2 Samuel 14:14 (CEB)
14 We all have to die—we’re like water spilled out on the ground that can’t be gathered up again. But God doesn’t take life away; instead, he makes plans so those banished from him don’t stay that way.
“God’s hard to get rid of.” – Rev. Jim Nipper
Here’s the brief, but important, point today. Have you ever felt far away from God, like you’ve been banished? Do you ever wonder if God is real? Does God love you? Could God still love you? The answer to all of these questions for most of us is yes.
If’ you have ever felt far from God, slowly re-read these words a wise woman spoke to King David, “But God doesn’t take life away; instead, he makes plans so those banished from him don’t stay that way.”
The Author of Life is always about healing, restoration, and salvation. (John 3: 16-17) Worth noting, the Father of Lies would have you believe otherwise.
Say it with me, God…wants…me…back. It’s the story of the Prodigal Son. It’s why God sends Good Samaritans. It’s plain, simple, and overwhelming. God loves you. Always has and always will. And we want to be with the ones we love, so you know that God wants to be with you.
Prayer: Lord, sometimes we feel like we’ve been banished. We need you to come near. Come to us. Be God with us and for us, Emmanuel. Amen.
