What more can I say? I would run out of time if I told you about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets. Through faith they conquered kingdoms, brought about justice, realized promises, shut the mouths of lions, put out raging fires, escaped from the edge of the sword, found strength in weakness, were mighty in war, and routed foreign armies.Hebrews 11:32-34 CEB
One of the things I love about the bible…stories of God doing amazing things through some extraordinarily ordinary people. The two things these “heroes” of the faith have in common besides their humble beginnings for most of them???? 1. Their faith, which leads them to their trusting God, and 2. Their penchant for making mistakes and getting things really wrong sometimes.
And yet, this is how God operates – through ordinary and fallible folks like you and me.
Amazing isn’t it. It’s what gives me hope when I make a mess of things. In spite of our messes, God still has great things to do through us.
And it doesn’t take much faith for God to do great things through us. Jesus said them at faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. (Matthew 17:20)
It’s not the size of your faith that matters, it’s the size of the God working in you and through you.
Prayer: God, thank you forgiveness in my self created messes, grant me even a small option of faith for this day and do great things for others. Amen.
