14 … Comfort the discouraged. Help the weak. Be patient with everyone.     – from 1 Thessalonians 5:14 (CEB)

Some things are natural for me, other’s not so much.  I’m a high-energy type of person, always rushing from one thing to the next, so when I read scriptures like the one above, I like to look at it like a check list.  Comfort the discouraged, check.  Help the weak, check.  Be patient with everyone, busted!  (Which one do you need to do more of today?)

I’ve always heard, “Be careful what you pray for, you might just get it.”  I’m praying for patience, because, well, patience doesn’t come naturally to me.  This isn’t new to me, this is a life-long struggle.  We all have them, and this is one of mine.  The sad thing is, I am often least patient with those closest to me.

I’m on a journey from Impatient to I’m Patient.

What are your life-long struggles?  Hint – based on your personality type, you will always have natural struggles.  What are they?  Pray, but be prepared to be in scenarios where the skill you desire will need to be put into practice so that it can develop in you.

Prayer:  Lord, show me the skills I need to work on in my life that would help me serve in your kingdom.  Be patient with me.  When the opportunity comes, grow these skills in me.  Amen
