You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only don’t let this freedom be an opportunity to indulge your selfish impulses, but serve each other through love – Galatians 5: 13 (CEB)
Heading into Memorial Day here in the U.S. of A., I couldn’t help but think of the men and women who have sacrificed so much so that we have the freedoms that we enjoy. I thought this verse from Galatians was fitting. We are free, but free to what? For what? Called to freedom, not for ourselves, but to serve each other.
That’s it for today? What are you doing with your freedom? How are you using it to serve others, not yourself?
Lord: You have set us free. Your hope is that we use this freedom, not for our own privilege or well-being, but to serve others. For this, you gave your life. Free us from our fears, and love us into serving others. Also, thank you for the countless folks, whom I don’t know, whom I have never met, that have given of themselves to afford me this opportunity. Amen.
“All gave some, some gave all.”
