I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created. (Romans 8:38-39 CEB)
This is one of my favorite verses from the bible, and one I need to be reminded of often. It’s a cornerstone of understanding the heart of The Lord. No matter where I’ve been, no matter what I’ve done, no matter the mess I’ve made, no matter what others do to me or what life brings my way, nothing can take away God’s love for me and you.
I need to hear that again and again from God, “I love you no matter what, and nothing can take that away or destroy it.” I’m guessing I’m not alone.
If there’s one thing I hope my children learn from me, one thing that they know, they are loved. God loves them and so do their mom and I. I hope they never forget that.
Know that you are loved. Experience the grace once again or for the first time…God loves you no matter what, no ifs, ands, or buts. Right now wherever you are, whatever you’ve done, know that God loves you. End of story. From the beginning to end, God has always loved you and always will.
Fire or flood can take away everything we own, but nothing can take away God’s love for us.
Prayer: Saved by grace, loved forever. You love me God, unconditionally, which means even when I act in atrocious ways, or don’t measure up, you love me. Thank you. And I may not be as good at loving as you are Lord, but I am trying, help me to love better, to love deeper, to love more completely, to love like you do. Amen.
