We all face battles and struggles each day. Some conflicts are of our own making, but often the battles and struggles seem to seek us out.
Today’s Devo is short and sweet, but one we need to hear again and again. You don’t face this battle alone, The Lord is with you.
King Hezekiah and his troops are hunkering down to protect Jerusalem. The Assyrians are coming, and have them outnumbered, and overwhelmingly outmatched. The rout seems to be inevitable. King Hezekiah rallies the troops with this faith-filled reminder: “Be brave and be strong! Don’t let the king of Assyria and all those warriors he brings with him scare you or cause you dismay, because our forces are greater than his. All he (the King of Assyria) has is human strength, but we have the Lord our God, who will help us fight our battles!” The troops trusted Judah’s King Hezekiah. (2 Chronicles 32:7-8 CEB)
Guess who wins? Wrong. There will be no battle. the Lord strikes the Assyrians dead in their camp. God wins and the people of God are provided for in the face of an uphill battle.
I don’t know what your battle is today, but know this people of faith, The Lord is with you. You are not alone.
Prayer: Lord, we all face battles today. Our struggles seem too much, be with us. We call on you for help. Amen.
