If I told you all of the bad things I have done, you probably wouldn’t like me. You’d find it hard to forgive me. Im guessing that’s true of all of us. If everyone knew us at our worst, we’d all be lonely because we wouldn’t have many friends.
In another moment of honesty penned by King David, he says as much in his confession to God. Unworthy of God’s favor, but in need of God’s help, he writes this in Psalm 25:
But don’t remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoing. Remember me only according to your faithful love for the sake of your goodness, Lord. (Psalms 25:7 CEB)
Like David, we couldn’t earn the Lord’s favor, and yet God still loves us and forgives us. Mercy. Through Jesus, we know that God forgives us.
Can we forgive ourselves? And the next step, can we forgive others?
Prayer: Lord, forgive me. Not just because I need your help, but because you are merciful. Not because I earned it, but because you love me. Grant me Grace for the Grind.
