There’s a time for vision and planning and there’s a time for doing. In the church world and circles I run in and work in every day, we talk about things for years some times before we get to doing anything. Yes, I understand the need for a vision and good plan. I love dreaming and enjoy planning sessions, but sooner or later you have to go out and just do it. Why don’t we do more doing? My guess is fear of failure and always counting risk versus reward. We talk a lot about being the Lord’s hands and feet to the world. How much are we doing?
It’s not just corporate endeavors either. It’s personal. I can talk and think something to death before I make a decision. Ask my wife about me shopping for a smart phone.
And yet, while we wait, people go hungry, and others are hurting? Who needs you today to be the hands and feet that bear God’s provision, love, and grace to the world?
May this verse be your motivation to get out there and do something.
Prayer: Lord, I want to do good, I’m just not always sure I’m doing the right thing. Free me from my fear. Show me the need, and give me the wisdom I need to help others. May my life be filled not with words of good intentions or thoughts alone, but deeds of action and truth that bring You glory. Amen.
