I can’t make you love me. I can’t even make you like me. That’s your choice. That’s the strange thing about love, you can’t force it. Yes you can work at it, and yes you choose it, but true unconditional love can never be earned. Even if it could, I wouldn’t deserve it, and neither would you.
Here’s one of the bible basics, Christian Theology 101. God loves you. You didn’t earn it, you didn’t merit it, you didn’t work for it. God chose you, to make you, to love you, to call you. That’s grace, and it really is all about that grace. That’s where it starts. When I read the bible, I read it all through the lenses of God’s love and grace. The apostle Paul puts it this way:
Romans 9:16 Common English Bible (CEB)
16 So then, it doesn’t depend on a person’s desire or effort. It depends entirely on God, who shows mercy.
Sometimes we just need to hear the words, to feel the love. This is your basic, yet important reminder, simply put, but hard to fully grasp: God loves you.
I’m quite sure someone reading this needed this reminder today. I know the author of this blog sure did. No matter what you’ve done, no matter where you are, God loves you.
No matter what, no matter where, no matter when, God loves you, and there’s nothing you can do to change that.
Prayer: Lord, love me. I know you do, and I know I need it, so love me. Help me to live according to your love. Teach me how to love like that, unconditionally and whole-heartedly. Amen.
P.S. I encourage you to copy the block quotes and post them on Twitter, Facebook, or wherever, someone out there need to hear this message today.
